THE COMMITTEE

The Research Ethics Committee (R.E.C.), set up and into function in every Higher Education Institution (H.E.I.), aims at providing guarantee of the research projects’ credibility taken place in H.E.Is in terms of moral and ethical issues. The R.E.Cs check whether a research project takes place with respect to the value of humans, the autonomy of the participants, to their private life and their personal data, as well as the natural and cultural environment.

AIM

The mission of the Research Ethics Committee is to provide guarantee of the research projects’ credibility conducted by the University of Patras members in terms of moral and ethical issues. The R.E.C. checks whether a research project takes place with respect to the value of humans, the autonomy of the participants, to their private life and their personal data, as well as the natural and cultural environment. The Committee also checks the adherence to the principles of research integrity and the criteria of good scientific practice. Furthermore, the R.E.C. aims at training the scientific, administrative staff and the students of the University of Patras in matters related to research morals and ethics. The Research Ethics Committee of the University of Patras is set up based on the provisions of Law 4521/2018, the related Senate’s decisions and the current regulatory framework.
